Episode #55: Mistakes Well Handled
The “what” is easy. Craftwork is a specialty coffee shop and vibrant membership-based workspace with locations in Fort Worth (Foundry, Camp Bowie, Magnolia) and Austin (Domain). We serve craft coffee and are a connected coworking space. But you knew that already. Our “why” is our heart – we desire to create spaces and places where our members and customers experience connection and community.
We love the quote from restaurateur Danny Meyer, “the road to success is paved with mistakes well handled.” Meyer believes that mistakes, if embraced and handled in the right way, could land us in a better spot than if we never made the mistake in the first place. So how do we handle mistakes well? Meyer teaches his team the 5 A’s of mistake making:
1. Be Aware of the mistake.
2. Acknowledge it.
3. Apologize for it.
4. Act on it.
5. Apply additional generosity.
Mistakes are inevitable, particularly if we are doing meaningful things. How we handle them makes all the difference. So here’s to each of our well handled mistakes this week!
What is not a mistake? Inviting a friend to Craftwork and sharing a free drink with them! When you bring a friend who has never been to a Craftwork, we will give them a free drink of their choice (from our basics menu). (Honor code on bringing a friend new to Craftwork and limit of 1 free drink per customer. Offer expires 7/1/19.)
If you are not a Craftwork coworking member, every Thursday in June, you can work from Craftwork for free. Come by, check in with our staff, meet our community (they are awesome), grab a seat, and do your thing. Our mission is that you thrive where you work. Spots are limited (4 at Camp Bowie, 4 at Magnolia, and 4 at Foundry). Find the location closest to you and RSVP here: Camp Bowie, Magnolia, or Foundry (limit one day per person, first time workspace guests only).
