Episode #76: Fighting for gratitude
The “what” is easy. Craftwork is a specialty coffee shop and vibrant membership-based workspace with locations in Fort Worth (Foundry, Camp Bowie, Magnolia) and Austin (Domain). We serve craft coffee and are a connected coworking space. But you knew that already. Our “why” is our heart – we desire to create spaces and places where our members and customers experience connection and community.
We hope this finds you very well.
We believe gratitude is worth contending for. This week, we offer a framework to fight back when our gratitude is under attack. We hope this encourages each of us to fight for our gratitude.
Attacks on our gratitude will happen often. To battle back, we can set up a line of defense in the form of questions we ask ourselves. First, we can ask, “Can I find an actionable solution to the problem?” This is a way for us to potentially take charge (not control) over issues. But not all attacks on gratitude are actionable. In these cases, we need a triage of questions to try to rightly frame up our perspective. We might first ask, “Can I laugh at this problem?” If we cannot, then we might ask, “Will this matter in one year…in five years?” We will all have problems that transcend these questions. In these cases, often remembering that all that we have (time, resources, relationships, etc) are gifts not entitlements. This process of perspective gaining can shield us from the arrows that take away thankfulness. This does not mean we are immune to ingratitude, but it does mean we can have our guard up and ready to fight. Here’s to all of us fighting well.
When you bring a friend who has never been to a Craftwork, we will give them a free drink of their choice (from our basics menu). (Honor code on bringing a friend new to Craftwork. Limit of 1 free drink per customer. Offer expires 12/2/19.)
